The older children tapped their hands on their knees.

The caregivers with babies swayed back and forth with the baby. When we said zoom, they could lift the baby or bounce them. I held up pictures of a red, blue, and yellow car. We took a "drive" in each!

This song isn't related to cities, but it was too exciting not to share! It's a great song for any age group, but it worked well with the under twos. Caregivers with babies could point to each body part, while the older children actively participated.

I included another six songs that did not cover cities. I try to incorporate songs that can be modified for babies and toddlers.

Cities!

I've used a city theme in a preschool storytime before. This was the first time I used it in a toddler program. It was just as fun! The kids loved the stories and noisy songs!

Traffic Light

The red at the top tells us to stop!
(hold hand out in front)
The green below tells us to go!
(make a circular motion with arm)

The yellow in the middle tells us to wait.
(put both hands out in front)
Please don't worry you won't be late.
(point to wrist like a watch)

Unfortunately, I can't recall where I heard this wonderful rhyme!

For our version we throw our arms in the air, bend down, and spin at the end. It's very fun!
